New academic year, new Heads of Impington International College

Impington International College has appointed Bronwyn Wilson and Leanne Gibbons as Assistant Principals to its Senior Leadership Team, who will be responsible for delivering its globally-recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. Bronwyn Wilson will oversee the Diploma Programme (DP), while Leanne Gibbons will lead the Career-related Programme (CP) from this September.

The College, which was voted as the UK’s top non-selective provider of the IB (Sunday Times Parent Power), is one of two providers of the IB across Cambridgeshire, and has been offering the programmes for over 30 years. Both Bronwyn and Leanne have been instrumental in the delivery of the IB at the College, having taught there for 21 years collectively. Prior to appointment, Bronwyn was the Sixth Form’s DP coordinator, while Leanne was heavily involved with the delivery of the CP and focused on supporting students’ progression post-College.

Reflecting on her appointment, Bronwyn said: “I am delighted to accept the role as Assistant Principal: Head of Sixth Form at the College. Our DP students recently celebrated another 100% pass rate, and I look forward to continuing the great work of the College this academic year. The world continues to change at an accelerating pace, and we firmly believe that studying the IB equips our students with the skills and attributes they need to succeed in an increasingly globalised society. It fills me with great pride to accept my new position at the College, and I will strive to ensure our students continue to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners.”

Leanne added: “I look forward to working as Assistant Principal: Head of Sixth Form and continuing to champion and develop the CP further. The CP remains the only education offering that expertly blends academic and career-related teaching, and, as a testament to that statement, in recent years our alumni have performed on the stages of the West End and competed at elite sporting levels. Students studying the CP at the College benefit from our partnerships with renowned organisations such as Addenbrookes Hospital, Norwich City Football Club, Trinity Laban and more, and I believe this positions us as one of the leading Colleges in the region in terms of offering practical experience, and facilitating the development of professional relationships within different industry areas.”

Victoria Hearn, Principal of Impington Village College, said: “On behalf of all of the College’s learning community, I would like to extend a huge congratulations to both Bronwyn and Leanne for securing their new roles and joining our Senior Leadership Team. They both have been instrumental in the implementation and development of the world-class IB programme that we offer our students, and I look forward to working alongside them both to achieve further successes for the College.”
