Hear from our alumni

The world’s first ever CP student to attend The University of Cambridge was our own alumna, Cara Rowland, and more than 50 of our students have gone on to study at Oxbridge. We are tremendously proud of all of our students, who also continuously secure places at specialist universities, such as Northern Contemporary, or go on to study at international universities, including Smith College, Massachusetts.

Hear from some of our recent alumni about their College experiences, and how their time with us prepared them to take their next steps into Higher Education.

If you would like to submit your own journey for inclusion, please email .

Why did you choose the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (CP)?
The CP allowed me to have a much more well-rounded approach to my future studies and career, as I have an understanding of both the practical and academic elements of theatre. Through the CP, a huge emphasis is placed on studying what you are personally interested in, and so there is a lot of variety in what you learn.

How did Impington International College prepare you for university?
When I first considered applying to Oxbridge all of the staff at Impington International College were incredibly supportive. They set up meetings for all of the applicants, established mock interviews and provided me with lots of help and resources so that I could get the grades I needed to meet my conditions. All of the staff were absolutely relentless in the support that they gave me and I couldn’t have done it without them.

How would you describe your experience at Impington International College in three words?
Camaraderie, creativity, transformational.

Why did you decide to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP)?
I opted to study the DP so I could combine academic learning with my football scholarship. I’ve always enjoyed learning and I wanted to take the most intellectually vigorous course that I could.

How did Impington International College prepare you for university?
I can honestly say that the help that I got was everything I needed and more. I was worried I would not obtain a certain grade threshold, but I followed my teachers’ advice and it worked out well for me.
I also learnt a lot from my talented football coach, Clive Taylor, (Norwich City FC Regional Development Programme), which will help me to become a valuable asset to my university’s soccer team.

How would you describe your experience at Impington International College in three words?
Rigorous, passionate, and diverse.

Why did you decide to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP)?
I was particularly happy that I didn’t have to limit my subject choices for post-16 study or sacrifice studying a subject that I had a genuine passion for. This made the IB the perfect choice for me and why I would recommend it to anyone not wanting to drop any subjects.

How did Impington International College prepare you for university?
Through the IB I developed different approaches to learning skills that have proven to be really valuable. I learnt the importance of critical thinking, how to optimise my key skills and use these to my advantage, how to think on my feet and remain calm and trust in my ability. I was also able to develop my essay writing skills, learning how to refine my thoughts and feelings into a written format and I found it stimulating to debate and delve deeper into topics that I believed in.

How would you describe your experience at Impington International College in three words?
Challenging, productive, complete.
